HCMC – The Hanoi Medical University, the Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at HCMC have signed a partnership with Harvard Medical School (HMS), a graduate medical school of Harvard University, to set up a program for the training, study, and exchange of students and lecturers.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the four schools took place on November 17 and the deal will take effect from 2022 to 2027. As part of the MOU, HMS will help the three Vietnamese universities train undergraduates and post-graduates. The goal is to enhance the medical system via medical training renewal and strengthen professional knowledge and skills for medical employees and biomedical researchers.

HMS will send teams of lecturers specialized in training and studying biomedical to cooperate with local lecturers of universities to develop quality clinical and pre-clinical study programs.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu, rector of Hanoi Medical University, said that Harvard Medical School had supported many medical and pharmaceutical universities in Vietnam. The support has shown positive signs of creating a high-quality health workforce in Vietnam.

HMS is one of the oldest medical schools in the United States, founded in 1782 in the Longwood Medical Area of Boston, Massachusetts, and is consistently ranked first for research among medical schools.
