Over 100 restaurants named in Vietnam’s first Michelin Guide selection

HCMC – The inaugural edition of the world-renowned culinary collection, the Michelin Guide, in Vietnam was unveiled on June 6, featuring 103 restaurants in Hanoi and HCMC recommended by experts.

Out of the total, four local restaurants were awarded one prestigious Michelin star each, acknowledging their exceptional culinary offerings and remarkable dining experiences.

The honored restaurants include Gia, Hibana by Koki, and Tam Vi in Hanoi, along with Anan Saigon in HCMC.

In Hanoi, Gia stands out as a Vietnamese contemporary restaurant renowned for its seasonal menu. Hibana by Koki delights diners with Japanese teppanyaki dishes prepared by Chef Hiroshi Yamaguchi, while Tam Vi serves up northern Vietnamese cuisine with a diverse array of options encompassing central and southern culinary styles.

Meanwhile, Anan Saigon, a Vietnamese contemporary restaurant located in downtown HCMC, captivates local guests with its innovative cooking techniques applied to street food recipes.

Additionally, 29 restaurants and eateries in Hanoi and HCMC were awarded the Bib Gourmand distinction, a recognition from Michelin for offering good food at affordable prices, with more than half of these establishments specializing in Vietnamese cuisine or street food.

Furthermore, a total of 70 other restaurants were named as Selected Restaurants in the Michelin Guide selection for Hanoi and HCMC this year.

The Michelin Guide selection of restaurants, initiated by the French tire manufacturing company Michelin, evaluates restaurant excellence worldwide across various categories, most notably with the iconic three Michelin Stars.

The recognition bestowed on these restaurants is expected to promote local cuisine globally and entice more travelers from both domestic and international markets.
