Ha Long tourist street quiet amid new Covid wave

Bai Chay, which is considered the tourist capital of Ha Long City in Quang Ninh province, has been completely empty these days due to the impact of the new Covid-19 wave in the country.

Just a few days ago, the national holiday that fell on April 30 – May 1, Ha Long welcomed more than 280,000 visitors.

However, Covid-19 has broken out again. And Bai Chay is now quiet again.

The tourist street is completely quiet as almost all restaurants and shops were close.

The street is nearly empty. Several restaurants sell food in the take-away mode but do not have customers.

"I have opened the restaurant for nearly a month, but except for the recent holiday, we have not a single customer. In such a situation, we may fail to pay salary to our employees," said Mr. Nguyen Hai, who runs Hai Quan restaurant in Bai Chay.
