Apple's iPhone Ultra Expected to Launch Soon with Limited Supply

Apple is gearing up for the launch of its much-anticipated iPhone Ultra, which may also be referred to as the iPhone Fold. This new model is expected to be unveiled in just a few weeks during the company's September event. However, reports indicate that the availability of the iPhone Ultra will be severely limited, creating a challenging situation for those looking to purchase the device as soon as it hits the market.

According to a reliable source on the social media platform Weibo, the supply of the iPhone Ultra will be 'extremely limited' when it is officially introduced next month. Apple aims to produce around 10 million units, as reported by Nikkei Asia in July, but suppliers may require an additional three to five months to reach this production level. This means that obtaining the highly anticipated foldable iPhone will not be easy right at launch.

This situation mirrors the launch of the iPhone X in 2017, which faced significant supply chain issues due to new component requirements, such as the TrueDepth camera system for Face ID and limitations in OLED screen production. Pre-orders for the iPhone X sold out within minutes, leading to extended delivery times.

In another update, the Weibo account Fixed Focus Digital mentioned that while there were initial rumors suggesting that the iPhone Ultra would be available only in the U.S. at first, many sources now confirm that mass production with Chinese partners is progressing smoothly. This suggests that the product could be launched globally from day one.

As for the name, there has been speculation about whether the device will be called iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold. The name iPhone Ultra started gaining traction this spring, but some analysts have expressed doubts about it. Recently, a leaker on Weibo predicted that Apple might reserve the name 'Ultra' for the 20th-anniversary iPhone model and its successors. Notably, analyst Mark Gurman mentioned on social media earlier this month that internally, the company refers to the device as Ultra.

With the iPhone Ultra/iPhone Fold set to be revealed in September, fans are eagerly awaiting the event. Vietreader will provide live coverage of the Apple event to share updates and firsthand impressions as the first foldable iPhone officially launches.

Many iPhone enthusiasts are now faced with the question of whether to purchase the discounted iPhone 17 or wait for the iPhone 18. This decision is on the minds of many fans as the launch date approaches.
