Vietnamese Players Head to Thailand After FIFA ASEAN Cup

After the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, four players from the Vietnam national football team will not return home with the rest of the squad but will instead travel directly to Thailand for their next assignment. The players—Lê Giang Patrik, Khoa Ngô, Williams Minh Hoàng, and Nhật Minh—are all part of Police TPHCM and will join their club ahead of an important match.

These players will fly from Jakarta, Indonesia, to Bangkok, Thailand, on October 5, immediately after completing their duties with the national team. This direct flight allows them to save travel time and gives them additional recovery time before facing Ratchaburi FC of Thailand in the 2026-2027 Southeast Asian Champions Cup on October 7.

The early arrival of Lê Giang Patrik, Khoa Ngô, Williams Minh Hoàng, and Nhật Minh is crucial for Police TPHCM as they prepare for a challenging opponent in Ratchaburi FC. While these four players head to Thailand, the remaining members of Police TPHCM currently in Vietnam will travel to Bangkok on October 6. According to assistant coach Phùng Thanh Phương, the team will have only one training session in Thailand before the match.

The tight schedule makes it essential for these four players to join their club early. After a busy competition schedule with the national team, they will need to quickly recover their fitness to synchronize with their teammates at Police TPHCM.

This preparation is part of Police TPHCM's strategy as they aim to compete strongly in the 2026-2027 Southeast Asian Champions Cup. The team has assembled a robust lineup for the new season, including local players, overseas Vietnamese, and foreign players eligible for citizenship, all ready to contribute to the club and Vietnamese football.
