The Vietnamese national football team has announced its roster for the upcoming FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, which will take place from September 21 to October 6 in Indonesia and Hong Kong. Notably absent from the squad are prominent players Doan Van Hau and Dang Van Lam, both of whom have been significant contributors to the team's past successes.

Doan Van Hau, who played approximately 360 minutes in the recent ASEAN Cup semifinal against Malaysia, has been sidelined due to a suspension following a red card incident in the V-League. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam did not see any action during the tournament. His absence is attributed to his commitment to his club, CAHN, as they compete in the AFC Champions League playoffs.

In a surprising turn, the team has introduced new players, including Adou Minh and Williams Minh Hoang. Adou Minh, born in 1997, recently acquired Vietnamese citizenship and currently plays for CAHN. His mixed heritage includes a French father and a Vietnamese mother, adding a unique background to the team.

On the other hand, Williams Minh Hoang, born in 2007, has made a name for himself playing for CA TP HCM. Standing at 1.90 meters, Minh Hoang has impressed fans and coaches alike during his debut season in the V-League, contributing to his team's victory in the National Cup.

The Vietnamese squad will compete in Group B of the first division alongside Pakistan, Thailand, and the Philippines. Group A features hosts Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Singapore. Each team will play in a round-robin format, with points determining the top teams for the finals. The tournament promises to showcase emerging talents and seasoned players alike, as Vietnam aims to secure a strong performance.

The opening match for Vietnam will be against the Philippines on Saturday, September 26, at 19:30.
