On October 1, the Vietnamese sports delegation achieved another bronze medal at the 20th Asian Games, as athletes competed in various events aiming for more accolades. The medal tally for Vietnam now includes two golds, one silver, and a total of 19 bronzes.
The gold medals were won by Nguyễn Ngọc Trâm, Bùi Ngọc Nhi, and Hoàng Thị Thu Uyên in women's team kata karate, and by Nguyễn Thị Khánh Ly, Lê Thị Hồng Liên, and Nguyễn Thị Thu Trang in women's doubles sepaktakraw. The silver medal was secured by Đinh Văn Tâm in the men's 56kg category of wushu.
Among the 19 bronze medals, several noteworthy performances were highlighted. The mixed doubles team of Nguyễn Hoàng Minh Tân and Trịnh Gia Nghi in Teqball, and Bùi Ngọc Nhi in individual kata karate, both contributed to the medal count. Additionally, several teams in rowing, including the women's four-person team and the men's four-person team, also secured bronze medals.
In e-sports, the Vietnamese team competing in League of Legends faced a tough match against Taiwan (China) in the semifinals, resulting in a bronze medal finish. Other sports like taekwondo and judo saw Vietnamese athletes reach the finals but ultimately fall short of medals.
In shooting, Phạm Quang Huy reached the finals in the men's 25m pistol event, finishing fourth, just one point shy of a bronze medal. In archery, Đặng Công Đức advanced to the semifinals but was unable to secure a medal after a close match.
