As the 20th Asian Games continue in Japan, Vietnam's sports delegation has made a promising start, having already clinched three bronze medals in the first two days of competition. The day of September 22 is set to be particularly busy for the Vietnamese athletes, who will compete in various sports including cycling, swimming, shooting, karate, wushu, and football.

At 7 AM, cyclists Nguyễn Thị Thật, Nguyễn Thị Thu Mai, and Nguyễn Thị Thi will participate in the women's road cycling final. The morning will also see the wushu team kick off their events with Đỗ Đức Tài performing in the men's traditional martial arts category, followed by Đặng Trần Phương Nhi competing in the women's event at 9 AM. Later, the athletes will continue with their respective events in the afternoon.

In shooting, Nguyễn Tâm Quang and Phí Thanh Thảo will compete in the mixed team rifle qualification starting at 7:45 AM. Should they qualify, the finals will take place at 9:45 AM. Swimming events will feature Nguyễn Thúy Hiền in the women's 100m freestyle heats at 8 AM, while Trần Hưng Nguyên and Nguyễn Quang Thuấn will compete in the men's 400m individual medley at 8:12 AM. Nguyễn Huy Hoàng and Mai Trần Tuấn Anh will also swim in the men's 1500m freestyle starting at 8:42 AM, with finals scheduled for 3 PM if they advance.

Karate is another sport where Vietnam has high hopes, with Nguyễn Ngọc Trâm, Bùi Ngọc Nhi, and Hoàng Thị Thu Uyên competing in the women's team kata quarterfinals at 8:10 AM. At 9:45 AM, fencing will feature Trần Thị Thùy Trinh and Nguyễn Phương Kim in the women's individual foil group stage. If they progress, the knockout rounds will continue throughout the day, culminating in the finals at 5 PM.

In team sports, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face Kazakhstan at 8 AM in a match for 7th-8th place. Additionally, the U23 Vietnam team will take on U23 Uzbekistan at noon, aiming to secure a spot in the men's football quarterfinals. The women's gymnastics team will also begin their qualification rounds at noon, hoping to earn additional spots in the finals.

The schedule for Vietnam's delegation on September 22 is set according to Japan's local time, which is two hours ahead of Vietnam.
