FIFA has officially banned Hanoi Police Club (CAHN), the reigning V-League champions, from registering new players until the end of the 2027-2028 season. This announcement was made on September 15 and is reflected in FIFA's updated list of clubs facing registration bans.

According to the ruling, CAHN will be unable to purchase, loan players from other teams, or promote youth players to the first team during the upcoming transfer windows, including the mid-season transfer period of 2026-2027 and throughout the 2027-2028 season. The club will be eligible to return to the transfer market before the 2028-2029 season.

The ban is reportedly linked to a contract dispute involving Brazilian player Andrey Ramos, who was set to join CAHN before the 2025-2026 season. Although both parties signed a memorandum of understanding, Ramos's physical condition did not meet the club's requirements, preventing the finalization of the contract. The player contends that CAHN must fulfill its financial obligations, leading to the matter being escalated to FIFA.

Currently, CAHN is negotiating with Ramos to resolve the issue and lift the ban. FIFA's registration bans are typically associated with financial disputes, such as unpaid wages or compensation owed following contract terminations. Clubs may also face penalties for violating transfer regulations, such as failing to pay fees or improperly approaching players without the consent of their current clubs.

In cases of financial disputes, FIFA requires clubs to settle any debts or outstanding payments to the claimant, confirmed by both the claimant and an international bank, before lifting the ban. FIFA's list of clubs banned from registering new players serves as an important resource for the football community, ensuring transparency and accountability in the sport.

Prior to CAHN, Thanh Hoa was frequently banned by FIFA for delayed payments to players and coaches. In the 2025-2026 season alone, Thanh Hoa faced three bans after multiple claims were filed with FIFA, which were lifted once the club completed its financial obligations.

CAHN is currently competing in four tournaments: the V-League, National Cup, AFC Champions League Elite, and Southeast Asian Club Cup for the 2026-2027 season. The team's roster is among the strongest in the V-League, featuring nine players eligible for the national team, along with seven foreign players and a Vietnamese-American defender, Kevin Pham Ba, who is not yet a citizen.

Under the guidance of Coach Mano Polking, CAHN has made a strong start to the season, winning against Adelaide United in the playoff for the ACL Elite qualification. They also secured a 5-0 victory against Ho Chi Minh City Police in the National Super Cup. In the V-League, they defeated Ha Tinh 2-0 and managed to win 1-0 against The Cong despite being a player down. However, they faced their first defeat yesterday, losing 1-4 to Gamba Osaka in the opening round of the ACL Elite 2026-2027 in East Asia.

CAHN will next face Dong Nai in an early match of the third round of the V-League 2026-2027 on September 20.
