The 2026 Pickleball World Cup held in Da Nang witnessed an impressive performance from Vietnam's Hoang Nam, who triumphed in the men's singles category. However, the national team faced a challenging match against the United States in the team finals, ultimately finishing with a silver medal after a 0-4 defeat.

The finals took place on the evening of September 6 at the Tien Son Sports Center, where the Vietnamese team faced a formidable opponent in the USA. Despite their best efforts, the Vietnamese players were unable to secure a victory, with the match concluding with scores of 17-21, 10-21, 16-21, and 14-21.

Although the team did not achieve the ultimate victory, their silver medal in the national team event marks a significant milestone for pickleball in Vietnam. Prior to the finals, players such as Hoang Nam, Phuc Huynh, Ken Tam, Trang Huynh, and Si Boi Ngoc showcased remarkable skills, maintaining a winning streak through the group stages and defeating strong teams from South Africa, the Netherlands, and Australia. They also achieved a dominant 4-0 victory over Japan in the semifinals.

In the singles category, Hoang Nam faced his teammate Phuc Huynh in an emotional final. The match followed a best-of-three sets format, with the first player to reach 15 points winning each set. Phuc Huynh started strong, taking the first set decisively with a score of 15-6. However, Hoang Nam, demonstrating his experience and resilience, adjusted his strategy in the second set, applying pressure and ultimately leveling the match.

The final set was a thrilling contest, with both players delivering an intense performance. Hoang Nam's stability and composure at critical moments allowed him to pull ahead and secure the victory with a score of 15-10, winning the match 2-1. This victory crowned Hoang Nam as the gold medalist in the men's singles Pro category at the 2026 Pickleball World Cup.

As the tournament concluded in Da Nang, the Vietnamese team solidified their position in various categories, finishing at the top of the overall medal tally with multiple gold medals, marking a highly successful World Cup for the nation.
