The city of Mainz has confirmed a new date for the ceremony honoring the Mainz 05 women's football team, allowing previously overlooked players to sign the Golden Book. The event is scheduled for September 2, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Stadthaus Große Bleiche.
This decision comes after a misunderstanding regarding the inclusion of all players involved in the team's promotion. On August 16, the city had already celebrated the team's achievement by inviting them to an official reception, where Mayor Nino Haase and Sports Director Daniel Köbler recognized the team's accomplishments. However, it was noted that not all players who contributed to the promotion were invited, prompting the city to arrange this follow-up ceremony.
In addition to the recognition of the women's team, the Mainz 05 men's team is also making headlines as they prepare for their upcoming Bundesliga match against SC Paderborn. Coach Urs Fischer has announced that the starting lineup will remain unchanged from their previous match. The team is eager to perform well, especially with Kaishu Sano, a key player, expected to take the field despite ongoing transfer speculation.
As the Bundesliga season progresses, Mainz 05 aims to strengthen its position and continue building on its successes, both on the men’s and women’s sides. The upcoming ceremony is a significant step in acknowledging the contributions of all players and celebrating their achievements.
