Manchester United Rejects Galatasaray's Huge Offer for Bruno Fernandes

Galatasaray has made headlines by proposing a staggering £42.8 million offer to Manchester United for their star midfielder, Bruno Fernandes. The Turkish club is also prepared to offer Fernandes a lucrative four-year contract that could potentially double his current earnings. Despite the attractive offer, Manchester United has reiterated their commitment to keeping the Portuguese captain at Old Trafford.

As the summer transfer window approaches its deadline, Fernandes has become a focal point in one of the most talked-about transfer sagas. According to reports from The Telegraph and BBC Sport, Galatasaray's president, Dursun Ozbek, is particularly eager to secure Fernandes' services, offering him an annual salary of £18.3 million after tax, along with a signing bonus of £4 million. This financial package is made more appealing by Turkey's favorable tax policies, which could significantly increase Fernandes' net income.

Currently, Fernandes earns around £200,000 per week at Manchester United, and with just one year left on his contract, the situation has become urgent. Although the club has an option to extend his deal for another year, negotiations for new terms have not yet been reached. Notably, the £57 million release clause in Fernandes' contract has expired, giving Manchester United a stronger position to retain their captain.

Fernandes has previously been a target for clubs in the Saudi Pro League, with Al Hilal making a massive offer last summer, which he ultimately declined. The midfielder has expressed his desire to continue with Manchester United, believing he still has much to achieve at the club and can contribute to winning more trophies.

Despite the allure of Galatasaray's offer, Manchester United's management is resolute in their decision not to sell Fernandes this summer, even if a high bid is presented. The club sees Fernandes as a key player in head coach Michael Carrick's plans, aiming to build the team around him rather than lose such an important leader.

The support from fans has been overwhelmingly positive, as demonstrated during a recent friendly match against Leeds in Dublin, where the crowd's reaction highlighted Fernandes' significance to the team. Following a standout season in 2025/26, where he set a Premier League record with 21 assists, Fernandes is also a leading candidate for the Premier League Player of the Year award.

For now, Fernandes' priority remains to stay at Manchester United. Despite the potential for a more lucrative contract elsewhere, he is believed to be loyal to the club and confident in his ability to make a meaningful impact in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
