Manchester United Eyes Andrey Santos Amid Chelsea's £50m Valuation
Manchester United is reportedly targeting Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos, who is valued at £50 million.

Manchester United has secured a deal to sign Andrey Santos from Chelsea, marking a significant move in the summer transfer window. The agreement involves a fee of £48 million, with an additional £2 million in achievable bonuses. Chelsea will retain a 10 percent sell-on clause for the talented midfielder.
Santos, a 22-year-old Brazilian international, has been given the green light by Chelsea to travel and finalize the transfer after agreeing on personal terms with United. His desire for a regular starting position has influenced this decision, especially after Chelsea's Moises Caicedo extended his contract, making it more challenging for Santos to secure consistent playing time at Stamford Bridge.
Having joined Chelsea from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in January 2023, Santos has made 43 appearances across all competitions during the 2025-26 season, contributing three goals and four assists. Despite being capped six times by Brazil, he was not included in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the summer World Cup.
Previously, Santos spent the first half of the 2023-24 season on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he made two appearances, followed by an 18-month loan at Strasbourg, where he excelled with 12 goals and five assists in 45 appearances.
Manchester United has prioritized strengthening its midfield this summer, particularly after the departure of Casemiro and injuries to other key players. The club had also shown interest in other midfielders, including Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, but turned to Santos as a promising alternative.
While Santos may not be the marquee signing many United fans hoped for, his addition aligns with the club's strategy to rebuild and enhance their midfield options. The recruitment team at United had previously evaluated Santos last summer, recognizing his potential and playing style, which mirrors that of Fernandes.
For Chelsea, the decision to sell Santos comes after rejecting previous offers, indicating a shift in their stance as they look to reinvest in their squad. Despite his value to the team, the club's current midfield dynamics and the need for financial flexibility have made this transfer feasible.
