Manchester United Eyes Andrey Santos Amid Chelsea's £50m Valuation

Manchester United has set its sights on Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos, who is currently valued at around £50 million. The club is looking to rebuild its midfield under manager Michael Carrick, especially after missing out on other targets such as Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes. Although talks between Manchester United and Chelsea have yet to commence, an offer is anticipated soon.

Santos, who made 27 appearances in the Premier League last season, is eager for more playing time, which has been limited due to the presence of Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is under pressure to sell players to fund new signings as they look to strengthen their squad under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

Newcastle United is also monitoring the situation, as they seek a replacement for Sandro Tonali, who is set to join Tottenham. Santos's potential departure from Chelsea comes at a time when Manchester United is keen to bolster its midfield, particularly after losing Casemiro and facing injury issues with Manuel Ugarte.

In addition to pursuing Santos, United has already reached an agreement to sign Éderson from Atalanta for £35 million, although this deal has been delayed due to the player's late call-up to the World Cup. As Manchester United prepares for the upcoming season, returning to the Champions League, strengthening the midfield remains a top priority.

Andrey Santos, 22, joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama for £18 million in 2023 and has spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg. Despite his six caps for Brazil, he has not been included in Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad.
