The Vietnam national football team showcased an impressive performance, defeating South Korea's Siheung FC 6-0 in a friendly match held on July 5. This match served as the team's first training session in Incheon, South Korea, as they gear up for the upcoming 2026 AFF Cup.
Head coach Kim Sang Sik utilized two different lineups during the match, allowing all players the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. Notably, the Brazilian-born trio of Nguyễn Xuân Son, Đỗ Hoàng Hên, and Nguyễn Tài Lộc participated in the second half alongside key players.
The scoring began early, with Việt Cường finding the net in the second minute with a beautiful right-footed shot into the top corner. The Vietnam team continued to create numerous attacking opportunities, displaying seamless coordination among the players.
In the 31st minute, Hai Long doubled the lead with a technical finish following a well-executed team play. Just eight minutes later, Hai Long scored again, bringing the halftime score to 3-0 in favor of Vietnam.
As the second half commenced, Coach Kim made a complete lineup change to further assess the team's personnel. The new combinations quickly proved effective, with Đỗ Hoàng Hên scoring in the 48th minute to extend the lead to 4-0. Just four minutes later, Nguyễn Xuân Son made a rapid advance and assisted Hoàng Hên for his second goal, increasing the score to 5-0.
Vietnam maintained pressure throughout the remainder of the match. In the 83rd minute, Đình Bắc outpaced the opposing defender and accurately finished the scoring, sealing the victory at 6-0.
Looking ahead, the Vietnam national team is set to face Yongin FC from K-League 2 on July 8, which promises to be a more challenging test than their first match.
