Ana Marcela Cunha of Brazil won gold in the women's 10km marathon swimming competition at the Tokyo Olympics on August 4, finishing the race at just under two hours.

After the gruelling 10km open-water swim, the 29-year-old Cunha touched the finish line in 1:59:30.8, just 0.9 seconds ahead of Netherlands’ Sharon van Rouwendaal. This gave the Dutchwoman her second Olympic medal – she won the gold in Rio in 2016.

Kareena Lee of Australia finished 1.7 seconds behind Cunha to win the bronze medal.

Athletics day 6: Lyles and De Grasse in battle for gold in men's 200m final

Day 6 of athletics action at Tokyo 2020 starts at 9am (local time) with the first of the events in the men's decathlon: the 100m, long jump, and shot put; the first events in the women's heptathlon: the 100m hurdles and high jump; the men's javelin qualifying round; men's 110m hurdles semis; and the final of the women's 400m hurdles.

The decathlon and heptathlon continue in the evening session at 6:30pm, with the decathlon high jump and 400m and heptathlon shot put and 200m. Also on the schedule are the women's 1500m semis, women's 400m semis, women's 3000m steeplechase final, men's hammer final and the men's 800m final.

But the big question on the day is: Who will follow in Usain Bolt's footsteps in the 200m? Americans Noah Lyles and teenage sensation Erriyon Knighton will among those to watch in the marquis men's 200m finals event -- as will Andre De Grasse, who broke a Canadian record in the semifinal and already earned a Tokyo bronze in the 100m event. Trinidad and Tobago's Jereem Richards carries the hopes of his dual-island nation after fairly flying in the semifinal rounds.

In the women's 400m hurdles, the American pair of Dalilah Muhammad and Sydney McLaughlin will be among the runners to keep an eye on as they've been trading world-record times for the last two years.

The women's 3000m steeplechase race will see Team USA's Emma Coburn, the defending champion from Rio 2016, in action.

Rudy Winkler (USA) is among the field in the finals of the men's hammer throw, as is Rio 2016 bronze winner Wojciech Nowicki of Poland.

Kenya's Ferguson Rotich will be the favourite in the men's 800m, alongside countryman Emmanuel Korir and Nijel Amos of Botswana.

Wrestling day four: Three medals on offer during busy day on the mats

The action will come thick and fast at the Makuhari Messe Hall A on 4 August with a spate of first-round matches, quarters and semifinals in various weight classes running from 11:00 - 13:30 (local time) and, later in the day, a series of matches (including the day's three finals) from 18:15 - 22:00.

Iran's Mohammad Reza Geraei will take on Parviz Nasibov of Ukraine in the Men's Greco Roman 67 kg. Hungarian Viktor Lőrincz and Ukrainian Zhan Beleniuk will battle it out in the Men's Greco Roman 87 kg. Finally, the Women's Freestyle 62 kg final will be contested by Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan and home favourite Yukako Kawai (of Japan).

Marathon Swimming day 2: Dutchman Ferry Weertman aiming for men's 10km title defence

Day two of Tokyo 2020 marathon swimming will see the second event, the men's 10km, followed by the victory ceremony. The race is set to commence from 06:30 JST.

Dutchman Ferry Weertman has his sights set on winning back-to-back Olympic titles in the 10km swim when he lines up on the pontoon at the Odaiba Marine Park.

Weertman will have to contend with a quality field that includes German world champion Florian Wellbrock and Rio 2016 bronze medallist Marc-Antoine Olivier.

London 2012 champion Oussama Mellouli of Tunisia will also be hoping to be in the mix to add to his success from nine years ago.
