Medical Students at Kinh Bac University Face Uncertain Future

Medical students at Kinh Bac University in Bac Ninh are expressing their frustration as they find themselves in a challenging situation. The university's educational activities were suspended by the Ministry of Education and Training in August 2025 for nine months due to a lack of qualified faculty. As a result, students like Hằng, a second-year medical student, have been left in limbo, unable to continue their studies effectively.

Hằng shared her exhaustion with the situation, stating that despite receiving online learning notifications, the results of their studies were not recognized due to the university's suspension. Medical education requires many in-person classes, making the online format inadequate. After nearly a year of waiting for the university to resume operations, Hằng decided to seek a transfer to another institution.

In June, she and 17 other students submitted applications to Tan Tao University in Tay Ninh, which had the necessary programs and admission criteria compatible with Kinh Bac University. However, complications arose when Kinh Bac University failed to provide the required documentation for the transfer, only promising a response by August 15. With Tan Tao University starting its new academic year on August 4, Hằng fears she may miss the opportunity to continue her education.

Many second- and third-year medical students from Kinh Bac University are in similar predicaments, facing not only a loss of time and money but also stress affecting their work and mental health. The tuition for the medical program at Kinh Bac is approximately 60 million VND per year.

Dr. Nguyen Mai Lam, the president of Tan Tao University, confirmed that they had received the transfer applications over a month ago. The Ministry of Education and Training has stated that Kinh Bac University must support the students in completing their transfer procedures if they meet the necessary quality assurance conditions.

Despite the Ministry's encouragement, students remain anxious due to the lack of clear communication from Kinh Bac University regarding the status of their applications and documentation. In the past, Kinh Bac University offered master's programs and 18 undergraduate programs ranging from medicine and pharmacy to information technology and economics. However, internal disputes and investor misconduct have led to the current educational disruption.

As the situation unfolds, students are left hoping for a resolution that will allow them to continue their education without further delays.
