The authorities in Thanh Hoa province have announced the arrest of four additional suspects, including three major jewelry shop owners from Ho Chi Minh City, as they delve deeper into the illicit trade.

At 46 years old, Hoang Thanh Nga, also known as Hoang Thi Thanh Nga, gained recognition after securing the title of first runner-up at the Miss Grand International 2022 pageant. She has also been involved in sponsoring crowns for various beauty contests in Vietnam, including Miss World Vietnam 2022 and Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2023. Her company, NCA Investment Co., Ltd., has been a notable player in the jewelry industry, particularly in the production of decorative stones and jewelry.

Before transitioning into business, Nga studied Foreign Trade at the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City and worked for seven years at a major retail corporation. Her entrepreneurial journey began with the decorative stone sector before she expanded into jewelry and precious stones.

In addition to her business ventures, Hoang Thanh Nga has been active in the entertainment scene, attending events such as the press conference for Miss & Mister Fitness Supermodel World 2026 and participating in a film project inspired by a sensational scandal in Saigon. However, her recent arrest has overshadowed her previous accomplishments and public appearances.

On July 11, her brand announced a temporary halt in operations to reorganize internal processes and improve service quality. Following the news of her arrest, her brand's social media page restricted comments, indicating a significant shift in public interest and concern regarding her business practices.
