According to reports from the Mirror, King Charles III has instructed senior aides to continue working with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to find a suitable time for the King to meet his grandchildren. Sources indicate that Harry and his father have had several private discussions in recent weeks, described as being filled with hope. "All possibilities are still being considered, and discussions are ongoing," a royal source told the Mirror.
Harry is currently in the UK to attend a series of events for the Invictus Games, following a vacation in Europe with Meghan and their children. Initially, the couple planned to bring Archie and Lilibet back to the UK for the first time since 2022. However, security concerns prompted Harry to travel to London alone. Nonetheless, the possibility of Meghan and the children joining him later in the trip has not been ruled out.
Previously, King Charles III had suggested that Harry's family stay at a royal residence. However, security protection would only apply within the premises and not during external activities. In a statement at the end of June, Harry's spokesperson emphasized that the core issue is whether his family would receive adequate and appropriate protection throughout their stay in the UK. Harry is exploring all viable options to ensure his children can safely return to their father's homeland.
Reports from the Telegraph suggest that Harry has considered bringing Meghan and the children to the UK for just one day to meet King Charles III, in order to minimize security challenges. Archie was born in the UK, while Lilibet was born in California. The King has only met his granddaughter once, during the Sussex family's visit to the UK in 2022.
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry has frequently returned to the UK alone. His last meeting with his father was in September 2025 at Clarence House, where they had about an hour of conversation. Harry has repeatedly expressed a desire to mend his relationship with his family. In a BBC interview in May 2025, he stated, "I really want to reconcile with my family. There’s no reason for this conflict to continue." However, he also acknowledged that his memoir, Spare, along with public interviews, may have made it difficult for some royal family members to forgive him. "Of course, there will be those who will never forgive me for writing that book, as well as for many other things," Harry admitted.
