Fully vaccinated people from outbreak regions only have to self-quarantine at home for 7 days

People who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or have been declared recovered coming from outbreak regions will not have to undergo concentrated quarantine, according to the latest guidelines from the Ministry of Health to local authorities.

After arrival or returning, they will only need to self-quarantine at home and monitor their health status for seven days, must wear a face mask and keep to distance rules, and would be subjected to two tests – on the first day and the seventh day of the isolation period.

Those who have not been fully vaccinated will have to self-quarantine at home/place of residence for 14 days and continue to monitor their health status for the next 14 days. They will be tested three times – the first day, the seventh day, and the 14th day during self-quarantine.

People transiting through outbreak regions but not stopping don’t have to isolate. People from regions applying social distancing measures under Directive 16 who are deployed to another locality on official Government duties led by a deputy minister or higher don’t have to quarantine, but need to closely observe their own status for 14 days.

More than 71,000 patients recover from Covid-19 in Vietnam

As many as 4,860 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospital in Vietnam on August 8 after making a full recovery from the virus, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 71,497, the Ministry of Health said on August 8 evening.

With more than 4,800 patients discharged from the hospital, this is the highest number of the Covid-19 recoveries Vietnam has recorded on a daily basis since the start of the outbreak in January 2020.

Vietnam has since July 28 seen between 3,500 and 4,500 patients recover from the disease daily. Experts say this is a good sign for the Covid-19 treatment system in the country. The recovered patients will continue to self-isolate at home, self-monitor their health, and immediately report to health authorities if abnormal symptoms develop.

Ho Chi Minh City coronavirus hotspot runs out of vaccines

Ho Chi Minh City, the largest coronavirus hotspot in Vietnam, has requested additional Covid-19 vaccines from the Ministry of Health as it is running out of vaccines for its extensive inoculation drive. Data from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health show the Ministry of Health has allocated 2,595,490 doses to the city, of which 2,108,186 doses had been administered between July 22 and August 7.

With more than 200,000 doses administered daily, the city now has approximately 500,000 doses for August 8-9, meaning it will no longer have the vaccines after August 9, said the department on August 8. Statistics show the city has about 7 million people aged 18 and above, but only two million of them have received the first shot.

About 800,000 people who received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine need the second dose by the end of August, while about 25,000 people who received the first dose of the Moderna vaccine also need the second dose by the end of August.

The national Covid-19 tally had reached 215,560 as of August 9 morning, with 213,200 domestic cases. The number of infections since the fourth wave of outbreaks hit Vietnam on April 27 amounted to 211,630. A total of 71,497 patients have recovered from Covid-19.

To date, Vietnam has administered more than 9.4 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. More than 945,800 people have received two full shots.
