The honor recognizes her outstanding contributions during a mission involving the city’s delegation visiting officers, soldiers, and residents on islands in the southwestern sea region in 2025.
Phuong Thanh expressed her emotions on her personal social media, stating that she feels proud to uphold her family's military tradition, which has spanned three generations. The certificate, signed in January 2026, highlights her dedication to cultural events and charitable activities over the years, earning her admiration from fans, colleagues, and friends.
At 53, Phuong Thanh remains actively involved in the arts, continuing to perform and engage with her audience. She rose to fame during the “Green Wave” music movement in the late 1990s and early 2000s, standing out with her unique raspy voice and dynamic stage presence. Despite not having a conventional appearance or dance skills, her distinctive musical style has made her a beloved figure in the Vietnamese music scene.
Born in 1973, Phuong Thanh is the sixth of seven siblings in a family of artists who served in the military. She moved to Ho Chi Minh City at the age of six, where she began her artistic journey. In addition to her singing career, Phuong Thanh has also made a name for herself in film and traditional theater, taking on supporting roles in various films such as “The Deadly Kiss” and “Hot Boy Noi Loan.” Her performance in “The Deadly Kiss” earned her a Golden Kite Award for Best Supporting Actress.
