Berlin donates 30,000 Covid-19 rapid test kits to Vietnam

HCMC - The administration of Berlin, Germany, presented 30,000 Covid-19 rapid test kits to Vietnam on August 19 to support the country in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The test kits have been transported to the Frankfurt Airport to be shipped to Vietnam, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

Addressing the reception ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his sincere gratitude to the administration and people of Berlin and other German states for supporting Vietnam in the Covid-19 fight.

Vu said Covid has been spreading fast in the country and that the Vietnamese Government has taken strong measures to bring it under control.

The Vietnamese Ambassador spoke highly of the strongly growing relationship between Vietnam and Germany.

He hoped that the German federal government, especially the administrations of Berlin and other German localities, would continue to support and promote joint projects between the two sides and contribute to further strengthening the Germany-Vietnam strategic partnership.

Vu also thanked the administrations of Berlin and other states for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Germany to do business and contribute to the its prosperity.

Christian Rickerts, Secretary of State for Energy and Digital Affairs in the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, shared the difficulties and challenges that Vietnam is facing in the Covid-19 fight.

In the context of the rapid spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus, the test kits donated by Berlin show the city’s solidarity with Vietnam during this difficult time.

They also show the gratitude of Berlin toward Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in Germany for their donation of face masks and other goods for Berlin in the past.

According to Rickerts, Vietnam is an important partner of Germany in Southeast Asia, and Germany, especially Berlin, wish to foster the comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam for mutual benefit.

Besides Berlin, many other localities in Germany have sent medical supplies such as face masks, Covid-19 test kits, ventilators and personal protective equipment to Vietnam.

The relief has been delivered in a timely manner to the local authorities to help them fight Covid-19.
