Tech giant FPT has always attached much importance to corporate social responsibility activities. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the corporation has swiftly stepped up these activities in response to the quick development of the outbreak, especially in HCMC.

Direct support

HCMC is experiencing the largest-ever Covid-19 outbreak with the Covid-19 tally having exceeded 5,000, making it the biggest hotspot in the country.

On June 26, the HCMC Department of Health established two field hospitals with more than 5,000 beds for the Covid-19 treatment in Thu Duc City. Joining hands with the city to combat the pandemic, FPT quickly provided the field hospitals with necessary technological equipment to support consultations of frontline doctors and the testing work.

As soon as the field hospital No. 1 in Thu Duc City was put into operation, FPT had plans to offer the equipment at no charge, helping the field hospital operate effectively and safely. Therefore, on June 29, FPT conducted a survey at the field hospital, worked out equipment installation plans, reached the consensus with the hospital management and installed the equipment. It handed over the equipment to the HCMC Department of Health the next day.

At the field hospital, FPT installed the Wi-Fi system, online meeting system Onmeeting by FPT, 20 computers, printers and surveillance cameras. The corporation expected to reduce the direct contact among medical workers to protect them from the pandemic transmission and improve the efficiency of the field hospital.

It ordinarily takes five days to complete the workload, but FPT, with its determination and unanimity, fulfilled it within only one day.

Nguyen Van Khoa, general director of FPT Corporation, said technological equipment must be installed quickly to immediately serve the demand. Amid the fourth Covid-19 wave with more complicated and unpredictable developments, FPT expected to give a helping hand to fight the pandemic and protect the community.

In addition to supporting the fight against the pandemic in HCMC, in mid-May, FPT backed anti-pandemic activities in Hanoi as the pandemic had returned in the capital with more complicated developments.

The dorms of the FPT University and High School with nearly 3,000 beds were requisitioned as quarantine centers. More than 70 teachers and employees of the FPT University and High School helped students move their belongings out of the dorms to ready the space as a quarantine center.

On May 13, FPT handed over five buildings which can accommodate 3,000 people to the Military Command of Thach That District, which is in charge of receiving and operating centralized quarantine centers in the district.

During an inspection into the preparation of a concentrated quarantine center at the FPT University’s dorm, Hanoi Vice Chairman Chu Xuan Dung highly evaluated the corporation for sharing the difficulties with the city.

In the pandemic outbreak in March last year, the FPT University’s dorm was also used as a centralized quarantine center for some 2,000 people.

The corporation also coordinated with the Electronic Health Administration under the Ministry of Health to launch a Covid-19 portal and develop a Chatbot to automatically answer users’ questions about Covid-19. Last year, FPT also contributed VND20 billion to pandemic hotspots.
