HCMC – The ferry service linking HCMC’s outlying coastal district of Can Gio and neighboring Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s Vung Tau City was officially inaugurated today, December 4, with two ferries offering 24 trips everyday. The inauguration ceremony was attended by leaders of both HCMC and Vung Tau City. Addressing the event, HCMC chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said the Can Gio-Vung Tau ferry service is an important transport project that improves transport connectivity for Can Gio District, reduces congestion on National Highway 51 and contributes to the socioeconomic development of HCMC, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and the surrounding provinces. With the new ferry service, it takes only 30 minutes for locals to travel between Can Gio District and Vung Tau City. Nguyen Quoc Chanh, director of Quoc Chanh One Member Limited Liability Company, investor of the project, said in the early stages, the company will operate two ferries. Each of them, measuring 10 meters in width and 45 meters in length, can accommodate 190 passengers, 10 cars and 50 motorbikes at a time. Tickets range between VND70,000 and VND1 million per trip. The company expects to put 12 ferries into service in 2024. | ||
