The 61-year-old explorer rode a bicycle 1,800km from North to South alone: ”Going to see Vietnam’s beauty”

Mr. Nguyen Hoang (76 years old, living in Ninh Kieu, Can Tho) making a living by picking up garbage and repairing motorbikes, got fame for his creative "horse-like bicycle".
In recent days, many people got extremely excited to see the "horse-like bicycle" moving flexibly along Cach Mang Thang Tam road (Can Tho). This bike was made by Mr. Nguyen Hoang within only 1 day to welcome the upcoming Reunification Day, as well as for daily exercise.
Hoang said that he was born in Thanh Hoa, but because of his struggle and lonely life, he moved to Can Tho 60 years ago. Since then, he took the pavement as his home, earning a living from collecting garbage. In recent years, he learned to repair motorbikes to earn more money, because the older he gets, the more healthcare he needs.
“After I finished learning how to repair motorbikes, I realize that it is my passion. In the morning, I sit to repair customers' motorbikes at a corner in Cach Mang Thang Tam road. At night, I collect used bottles to sell. But as I get older, my legs become weak. So I came up with the intention of making a bike from garbage, so I don't have to walk too far", Hoang said.
For April 20 last year, which is Vietnam's Reunification Day, Hoang made a 4-wheel convertible car, decorated with a lot of Vietnam's National flags. He made the car from used materials that he collected and welded himself. The car took him less than 5 days and only VND 500.000 (USD 21,8).
Taking advantage of the materials that had been collected and stored for a year, Hoang started to make a bicycle that looks like a horse. It took him only a day and VND 100.000 (USD 4,3).
To make this bike, Hoang used a bicycle's frame. The front wheel was replaced with two horse-like legs, only 2 rear wheels were kept to support the movement. The horse's head is made of foam and a wig, the saddle is made from cardboard. When the bike is moving, the head of the horse also moves back and forth, while the four legs move flexibly.
