Xabi Alonso Updates Chelsea Team News Ahead of Bournemouth Clash

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has provided an update on the team's readiness ahead of their upcoming match against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. In a press conference, Alonso confirmed that Moises Caicedo is fit and ready to return to action after recovering from an injury that has sidelined him for much of the season.

Caicedo, who has made only one substitute appearance this term, has returned to full training and is available for selection. Alonso stated, "Yes, he is ready to go. We have used the time with Moi to get him back fit. He has been training well and he is okay to go." This news comes as a relief to Chelsea fans, as the midfielder's presence is crucial for the team's performance.

In addition to Caicedo, Alonso also reported positive updates regarding the fitness of Reece James, Marco Palestra, Cole Palmer, and Joao Pedro. All four players have been training well and could feature in the match against Bournemouth. Alonso mentioned, "They have all been able to train, some of them earlier than others – and Marco Palestra as well. That was the plan." This is particularly significant for Palestra, who is in contention to make his competitive debut for the club.

However, there was some disappointing news as well. Alonso confirmed that Jamie Gittens will be unavailable due to an ankle injury sustained while playing for England Under-21s. Alonso said, "He is not going to be fit for tomorrow; that is the bad news from the international break. He picked up an injury on his ankle and is going to be out for a few weeks."

With the international break providing an extended period for training, Alonso expressed optimism about the team's readiness to compete against Bournemouth. He noted that the break was beneficial but perhaps too long, adding, "We return to action tomorrow afternoon as Bournemouth visit Stamford Bridge in the Premier League." Chelsea will be looking to capitalize on their home advantage as they aim for a strong performance in this match.
