As the 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20) progresses, Vietnam's sports delegation has secured a total of 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 19 bronze medals, placing them 21st in the overall medal tally as of October 1.
Leading the medal standings is China, which has amassed an impressive 154 gold medals, 71 silver medals, and 63 bronze medals. Japan follows in second place with 59 gold medals, while South Korea holds the third position with 30 gold medals.
In Southeast Asia, Thailand is currently the top performer with 12 gold medals, followed closely by Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and then Vietnam.
The two gold medals for Vietnam were achieved in the women's team kata event in karate by the trio of Nguyễn Ngọc Trâm, Bùi Ngọc Nhi, and Hoàng Thị Thu Uyên, and in the women's doubles sepaktakraw by Nguyễn Thị Khánh Ly, Nguyễn Thị Thu Trang, and Lê Thị Hồng Liên. Additionally, Đinh Văn Tâm earned a silver medal in wushu.
The 19 bronze medals were distributed across various sports, including teqball, individual kata, and multiple rowing events, showcasing the diverse talents of Vietnamese athletes.
