The Chinese team, which topped Group B, showcased their strength throughout the tournament, previously winning against North Korea 2-1 and drawing with Iran and the UAE, both 0-0. Thailand, on the other hand, impressed with comeback victories over Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong but struggled against the dominant Chinese side.

The goals for China came from an own goal by Auttapon Sangtong in the first half, followed by strikes from Hu Hetao and Zhang Yuning after halftime. Despite not dominating possession, China effectively utilized their physicality and tactical prowess to put pressure on Thailand, who relied heavily on goalkeeper Chommaphat Boonloet to prevent further goals.

In the first half, a free kick from Wu Xi led to a chaotic situation in Thailand's penalty area, resulting in the own goal just before halftime. Shortly after the break, Hu Hetao doubled the lead by capitalizing on a rebound. Zhang Yuning sealed the victory with a well-placed shot in the 63rd minute.

Despite a late surge from Thailand, they could not find the back of the net, and China's defense held firm. This victory not only advances China to the semifinals but also highlights their resurgence in Asian football, especially after recently finishing as runners-up in the U-23 Asian Championships.

China will face South Korea in the semifinals, who defeated Vietnam 4-0 in their quarterfinal match. The other semifinal will feature Uzbekistan against the winner of the match between Japan and North Korea.
