In a recent press conference ahead of Liverpool's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister revealed his disappointment regarding the club's lack of a contract extension offer. The Argentine star admitted that he felt 'very sad' after being informed that Liverpool was not in a position to propose a new deal.

Mac Allister stated, 'I received the message that the club could not offer me a new contract. Of course, that makes me feel very, very sad.' He emphasized his commitment to Liverpool, saying, 'I think everyone can see that I always give 100% for this club, in every training session and every match. I always try my best.'

Adding to his disappointment, Mac Allister noted that he felt a bit left out as teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai received contract extensions. 'When I saw Dominik and Ryan getting extensions, I was happy for them because they deserve it. But at the same time, I was a bit sad that I didn’t have the same opportunity,' he said.

Despite the lack of a new contract, Mac Allister has decided to stay at Anfield, even though there were opportunities for him to leave during the summer transfer window. He remains focused on contributing fully to the team and believes Liverpool has the necessary squad and spirit to compete for titles this season.

Liverpool's head coach, Andoni Iraola, has not committed to any future changes regarding Mac Allister's contract situation but acknowledged the midfielder's importance to the team. 'He is very important and has played a lot. I rate him very highly. There is certainly still time to discuss contract-related issues,' Iraola commented.

As the new season progresses, Mac Allister continues to be a key player for Liverpool, with aspirations of achieving success alongside his teammates.
