Runjaic Reflects on Udinese's Performance Against Monza

In a recent post-match interview, Udinese's coach, Runjaic, shared his thoughts on the team's performance following their 3-2 victory over Monza. He expressed his happiness with the result, noting that securing three points away from home against a solid Monza side was no easy feat.

Runjaic praised Monza for their competitive play, stating, "They are a good team that plays man-to-man. Overall, I am not pleased with the two goals we conceded rather easily." He highlighted the team's determination, saying, "We fought until the end, showing personality on the field and having some good moments with the ball. In the second half, we missed at least two opportunities to score a fourth goal, and in football, if you don't score, the opponent can capitalize on that."

He also pointed out the impressive performance of player Maduka during critical moments of the match and expressed hope that Ekkelenkamp would showcase his qualities as the season progresses. "He is in his third season here, and I am very happy with how hard he works every day. He plays for the team, defends, and respects our principles. I am delighted with his goal, and I am confident he will have a great season," Runjaic added.

While many are asking about the team's aspirations for Europe, Runjaic stressed that the primary goal remains survival in the league. He stated, "To aim for Europe, we must prepare the team to fight for that goal. We are Udinese, not a team that must start with the intention of going to Europe. We have excellent foundations and must continue to think about the next match, starting with the Coppa Italia."

Runjaic acknowledged the need for a stronger squad to foster internal competition and flexibility, saying, "Every coach always wants a stronger team. We must manage our players effectively, and today Davis did an excellent job despite the challenges he faced. He needs time to find his rhythm, but he has not missed any training in the preseason."

As the season unfolds, Runjaic emphasized the importance of keeping players like Solet, whom he referred to as the team's insurance policy. "We need to be able to keep Solet, as he is crucial for us moving forward," he concluded.
