Max Verstappen has voiced his disappointment regarding the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix, stating that it is a "shame" this will be the last race held at Zandvoort for the foreseeable future. The Dutch Grand Prix has a rich history in Formula 1, dating back to 1950, with its first race as part of the world championship occurring in 1952. After a 36-year hiatus, the event returned in 2021, largely due to Verstappen's popularity and success.

Over the last five years, the Dutch Grand Prix has become one of the most atmospheric races on the Formula 1 calendar, and Verstappen has won three of the last five races held at Zandvoort. As he prepares for this final race, he expressed his eagerness to enjoy the experience with his fans, despite the event's discontinuation. "Yeah, of course, we’ve known this now for a while. It’s my home grand prix, so for sure I’m going to enjoy it a lot. I hope, driving-wise!" he stated.

Verstappen acknowledged that although Formula 1 will not return to Zandvoort, the track will still host other racing series and events. He reassured fans that he would continue to enjoy driving at the venue in different capacities. "So, for me, I’ll still have my fun driving around there, just not in Formula 1, but that’s okay. I mean, I just want to enjoy it with the fans," he added.

Reflecting on the return of the Dutch Grand Prix, Verstappen praised the efforts made to bring it back, highlighting its significance as a model for other races in terms of hosting and entertainment. "It’s incredibly impressive what they have done to bring it back, and I think, at the time when they hosted the first one, it was a great example for a lot of other grands prix as well of how to host and entertain," he remarked.

As the final Dutch GP approaches, Verstappen aims to put on a memorable performance for his supporters, marking the end of an era for Formula 1 in the Netherlands.
