The V-League 2026/27 season is gearing up for an exciting start, with the first matches scheduled for September 4, 2026. The draw for the opening round revealed several noteworthy matchups, including defending champions Hanoi Police (CAHN) taking on Ha Tinh at Hàng Đẫy Stadium. This match is anticipated to be a challenging encounter, as Ha Tinh is known for its disciplined and tough playing style.

Another highlight of the opening round will see Nam Dinh, featuring naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son, face off against HAGL at Thiên Trường Stadium. Despite Nam Dinh's depth in squad strength, HAGL has a reputation for being unpredictable, especially in early-season matches. Additionally, the clash between Ho Chi Minh City Police and Hanoi FC promises to be another thrilling encounter.

In a significant shift for the league, the V-League will now consist of 14 clubs, with the season running until May 22, 2027. Each team will be allowed to register and utilize up to four foreign players on the field, a change from previous seasons that is expected to enhance the overall quality of play and increase competition. Furthermore, the relegation format will now include two direct relegation spots, eliminating the playoff system, which will intensify the battle at the bottom of the league table.

In addition to the match schedule, the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) unveiled a new branding identity for the league, emphasizing a modern and professional image while retaining the essence of Vietnamese football. The new branding carries the message "World Game, Our Festival," inspired by the number eight and the infinity symbol, reflecting the league's commitment to growth and innovation.
