Kylian Mbappé Provides Injury Update After World Cup Victory

Kylian Mbappé, the captain of the French national team, delivered a positive injury update following his team's impressive 2-0 victory against Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Despite experiencing a heavy knock to his ankle during the match, Mbappé confirmed that he is fine and expects to be fit for the upcoming semi-finals.

In a post-match interview with French broadcaster M6, Mbappé emphasized that while they are pleased to have reached the semi-finals, the team is not getting ahead of itself regarding their chances of winning another World Cup. "I don't know if you can say we are on a mission; that is the easy term to use. But I think we are aware that the only way to let up is by winning," he stated.

The match, held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, saw Mbappé scoring the first goal after a penalty he took was saved in the first half. He also played a crucial role in Ousmane Dembélé's second goal, which secured the win for Les Bleus. After taking a knock, Mbappé was substituted late in the game for Jean-Philippe Mateta. He reassured fans about his condition, saying, "I took a knock on the ankle but I'm fine. I think at that point, JP was more prepared than me to play the final 15 minutes, so I came off."

France is now set to face the winner of the quarter-final match between Spain and Belgium, which will take place on Friday. The highly anticipated semi-final match is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14. France, who previously won the World Cup in 1998 and 2018, aims to reclaim the title after a heartbreaking loss to Argentina in the 2022 final.
