Fabio Vieira, the talented midfielder for Arsenal, is on the verge of a potential transfer to Hamburger SV after reportedly reaching a personal agreement with the German club. However, a significant obstacle remains as Arsenal has set a price tag of €18 million for the player, which Hamburg is currently hesitant to meet.

Arsenal is looking to generate funds for new signings, including high-profile targets like Bruno Guimaraes, Vinicius Jr., and Julian Alvarez. To facilitate these acquisitions, the club needs to offload some players to free up wage space and manage their squad effectively. Historically, Arsenal has struggled with their selling strategy, with their record transfer out being the £35 million deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool back in 2017.

This summer, however, the Gunners have managed to secure fees ranging from £15 million to £20 million through the sales of Jakub Kiwior to Porto and Leandro Trossard to Besiktas. Fabio Vieira, who has been on loan at Hamburg, is expected to fetch a similar price if the transfer goes through.

According to Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany, Vieira has already agreed to terms with Hamburger SV, and both clubs have been in regular contact. The Portuguese player made a notable impact during his loan spell in the Bundesliga, contributing to 12 goals last season. Despite Hamburg's eagerness to bring him back, the price set by Arsenal is causing delays in negotiations.

With only one year left on Vieira's contract at Arsenal, the club is under pressure to finalize this deal. If they fail to sell him this summer, Vieira could sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs starting January 1, 2027, potentially leading to a free transfer next summer. This situation places Arsenal in a challenging position as they must balance their demands with the need to avoid losing the player without any compensation.
