Philippines Women's Team Closes in on Vietnam in FIFA Rankings

On June 21, FIFA released its latest rankings for women's national football teams, revealing that the Vietnam women's national team continues to hold the top position in Southeast Asia, ranked 37th in the world with 1,594 points.

Vietnam's women's team has maintained its ranking since the previous update, solidifying its status as a leading force in women's football within the region. In Asia, Vietnam ranks among the top six teams, trailing behind Japan, North Korea, Australia, China, and South Korea.

In Southeast Asia, Vietnam leads the pack, followed closely by the Philippines, which is now ranked 39th in the world with 1,566 points. Thailand has moved up one spot to 49th with 1,485 points, while Myanmar is positioned at 55th with 1,461 points. The Philippines has emerged as a significant competitor for Vietnam, showing consistent improvement in recent rankings.

Notably, Cambodia has made the most significant leap in the region, rising four places to 113th in the world. Conversely, Indonesia has dropped four spots to 110th, Malaysia has fallen three places to 95th, and Laos has also seen a decline of four spots. Singapore has improved by one rank to 151st, while Timor Leste is at 158th. The Brunei women's team currently does not have a ranking in FIFA.

Maintaining the number one position in Southeast Asia reflects the stability of the Vietnam women's national team amid increasing competition in women's football in the region. This achievement sets a solid foundation for Vietnam as it aims for significant goals in the near future, striving to assert its position on both the continental and international stages.
