To meet export demand, the Ho Guom-Song Am High-tech Agriculture Company chose and planted this seedless lychee variety in an area of about 30 ha in conjunction with the Institute of Agricultural Genetics (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development).
The company carefully selects the number of lychees that have just been exported according to the following criteria: thin skin, plump, not deep, fragrant, sweet, put into the fumigation line, and then canned for export.
The business above has implemented the rules per the expanding area code from production to preliminary processing, classification, treatment, fumigation, packaging, closed preservation management, and inspection through very strict stages to satisfy the demands of the Japanese and European markets.
The skin of the lychee does not burn in the sun and is easy to store. This variety's benefits include low maintenance requirements, shallow stalks, and great economic value. Litchi trees that are four years old and older can be harvested once a year.
According to Mr. Cuong, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development collaborated with Ho Mirror-Song Am Company and the Institute of Agricultural Genetics to test a 30-hectare area in the Nguyet An commune, Ngoc Lac district after researching seedless lychee varieties from abroad and implementing the fruit tree project of Thanh Hoa province until 2030.
The local fruit tree initiative is being implemented with a new component: the planting model of seedless litchi. According to Mr. Cuong, the first effect has a significant economic value.
Additionally, according to Mr. Cuong, the seedless litchi planted in the province of Thanh Hoa has done very well, and no pests have been found. Currently, the company is growing in the direction of GlobalGAP, which is eligible for export to countries worldwide.
Recently, the company has exported to Japan UK and is negotiating with other countries. Currently, the firm sells its products for roughly 170,000 VND per kilogram on the local market; the price for exports to other nations varies by country and might exceed 800,000 VND per kilogram.
According to the plan, in the coming time, Thanh Hoa's agriculture industry will, together with the company and related units, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, will survey and select the best leading plants for breeding, continue to expand on the area the company is managing is about 700ha.
The firm will collaborate with residents of Nguyet An commune and other communes to impart science and technology, give people seedlings, and then move on to product consumption to create a controlled litchi-wide region. And the province's premium exportable lychee goods will be seedless, according to Mr. Cuong.

After more than 4 years of trial planting, it was originally demonstrated that seedless litchi offered positive results, according to the initial evaluation and trial results of seedless lychee varieties of Song Am Company and the Institute of Agricultural Genetics. Growth and development are similar to native lychee; the tree grows and develops well without pests and diseases.
Its main benefit is the fruit's compatibility with the most developed export markets. Another benefit is that the lychee does not have a deep stem. The fruit is succulent, needs little maintenance, and is relatively affordable.
The first year lychee is harvested and put on the market, 2023, is expected to produce over 20 tons.
