Visitors must wear face masks when visiting Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2022

All visitors to Ho Chi Minh City's Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2022 will be required to wear face masks all the time, including when taking photographs, according to the organizing board.

Nguyen Hue Flower Street, arranged annually to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, will be under construction until 4:00 pm on January 29 and will open at 7:00 pm on the same day, according to an official plan.

Tet is to be observed nationwide from February 1.

Vehicles will be prohibited from traveling on the roads intersecting with Nguyen Hue Street from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm during the opening ceremony.

The 2022 Nguyen Hue Flower Street will feature two main entrances at the intersection of Nguyen Hue and Le Loi.

Visitors will have to perform preventive measures such as making a medical declaration using the PC-COVID application, using hand sanitizer, and taking a temperature check.

All will be required to wear face masks even when taking photos. Law enforcement will be on patrol to ensure that everyone follows the rule.

From the main entrance, a one-way path will lead to the Saigon River. At the intersections of Nguyen Hue Street and branch roads, six exit gates are to be installed alongside the flower street.

The opening and closing times will be flexible in accordance with the state of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Without prior warning, city leaders may change the venue's operating hours following the recommendations of the city's Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control.

Nguyen Dong Hoa, deputy general director of Saigontourist Group, the company in charge of constructing the flower street, said the venue will stay open in all epidemic prevention scenarios.

At epidemic level 1, Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2022 will open normally as usual, while level 2 will see barriers to make sure visitors going in one direction and six exits to ensure social distancing, with the street closing at 10:00 pm.

If the pandemic hits level 3, the closing hour will be 5:00 pm.

Finally, if level 4 is reached, the flower street will remain open, but visitors will be denied entry.

"These levels will be decided by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in order to respond to the pandemic prevention scheme in effect then," Hoa stated.

He added that the organizing board is looking forward to visitors' understanding and sympathy.

Ho Chi Minh City is now classified as a 'green zone,' or a region at low risk of COVID-19 infection.

The city recorded 97 cases and six deaths on Monday.
