Hung Yen City is located in the southern part of Hung Yen Province, about 60km northwest of the capital Hanoi, 50km northeast of Hai Duong City, 50km southeast of Thai Binh City, and 25km southwest of Phu Ly City. Hung Yen City borders Kim Dong District to the north, Tien Lu District to the east and the south, and Ha Nam Province to the west.
