HCMC – Animal feed prices show no signs of declining, putting livestock farmers on tenterhooks. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development plans to send the Government a draft decree on production support policy aimed at ensuring at least 50% of animal feed material will be locally sourced.
(VAN) We have only enjoyed a small segment in the livestock value chain as 80% of the raw materials are imported. Do we have to endure this situation forever?
(VAN) Out of the total 35 million tons of animal feed materials used domestically every year, Vietnam is only self-sufficient with 37% and imports the rest.
(VAN) According to Minister Le Minh Hoan, without gradually becoming self-sufficient in raw materials for animal feed, the livestock industry will find it difficult to develop sustainably despite constant fluctuations.
