Ajax's coach, Míchel, has revealed the starting lineup for the away match against Telstar scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Notably, defender Youri Baas will begin the match on the bench, a decision that is believed to be linked to potential transfer negotiations involving the player.

Baas had been a regular starter in Ajax's last three matches, but he will be replaced by Dies Janse, who is set to make his first start of the season. According to well-informed journalists, Baas's benching is likely due to interest from multiple clubs, with FC Porto reportedly among them. Ajax-watcher Johan Inan from Algemeen Dagblad noted that "there are serious interests surrounding the defender, making a transfer likely in the coming days."

Tim van Duijn from Voetbal International adds that FC Porto has made inquiries about Baas, suggesting that his benching is a calculated move. A transfer could reunite Baas with coach Francesco Farioli, with whom he worked during the 2024/25 season at Ajax.

In addition to Baas, Ajax's lineup for the match against Telstar will also miss Lucas Rosa, Youri Regeer, and Abdellah Ouazane, who are not included in the starting eleven. Ajax has stated that Rosa and Regeer are "not fit," although it was reported earlier that Regeer is on the verge of a move to Werder Bremen.
