Alejandro Balde Seeks Move from Barcelona Amid Manchester United Interest

Alejandro Balde, the talented left-back currently playing for Barcelona, has expressed his desire to leave the club as he fears losing his position in the starting lineup. With Manchester United keen to bolster their defense, Balde has become a prime target for the English club, which is reportedly willing to spend a minimum of €50 million to secure his services.

The summer transfer market has seen unexpected developments, particularly concerning Balde's situation at Camp Nou. Despite transfer expert Fabrizio Romano previously suggesting that Balde wished to continue his career at Barcelona, recent changes within the club have prompted a reassessment. Sources close to the situation indicate that Balde is concerned about his playing opportunities due to the arrival of Joao Cancelo and the emergence of young talent Gerard Martin.

In light of these developments, Balde's representative, Jorge Mendes, has proactively reached out to Manchester United's management to initiate discussions regarding a potential transfer. Romano has confirmed that negotiations between the two parties have taken place, with the chances of a successful deal currently estimated at 50/50. However, a significant hurdle remains: Barcelona must publicly list Balde as available for transfer for the move to proceed.

Manchester United's management is keen to strengthen their left flank, particularly after spending £70 million on midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton. Concerns over Luke Shaw's injury history and workload in both the Premier League and Champions League have compelled United to act decisively in the transfer market. Following a rejected bid for Lewis Hall from Newcastle, Balde has quickly risen to the top of their wishlist.

United is aware of the financial conditions surrounding the transfer and is prepared to invest at least €50 million (approximately £43 million) to convince Barcelona to part with the player. Should negotiations stall, the club has also lined up alternative options, including David Raum, the captain of RB Leipzig, and young prospect Jorge Salinas from Racing Santander.
