Manchester United's £74 Million Gamble on Benjamin Sesko
Manchester United has invested £74 million in Benjamin Sesko, hoping to solidify their forward position.

Manchester United is gearing up for the new Premier League season with some positive news regarding their attacking lineup. Benjamin Sesko, the talented forward, has returned to training with his teammates, raising hopes that he could be registered for the season opener.
According to journalist Laurie Whitwell from The Athletic, United did not expect Sesko to be fit in time for the friendly match against AC Milan. His absence from the squad on Saturday was not surprising, especially since he has yet to play any minutes during the pre-season. However, the fact that Sesko is now back on the training pitch is a significant boost for the club.
Whitwell noted that Sesko's injury has taken longer to heal than initially anticipated, but his recent training sessions with teammates indicate that his recovery is progressing positively. "It would be unusual for him to be thrown straight into the lineup without participating in any pre-season friendlies," he stated.
Despite this optimism, Manchester United remains cautious. Since Sesko has not yet played in any pre-season matches, it is unlikely that he will start in the opening game of the Premier League. The current expectation is that he may be registered to play as the season officially begins. If he travels with the team for their match against Hull City, it is probable that the 22-year-old will only see limited action from the bench.
Sesko's return to training is a significant development for United's attacking options, especially as they prepare for the new season. If he is not at peak fitness, Bryan Mbeumo is likely to take on the central forward role in the opening match. Additionally, United has several other injury concerns to monitor, including Mason Mount, who is still recovering from a foot injury sustained during a match against Paris Saint-Germain, along with Karl Darlow, Tom Heaton, Manuel Ugarte, and Matthijs de Ligt, who are also not fully fit.
While it remains uncertain whether Sesko will feature in the season opener, his return to training is a reason for Manchester United fans to be hopeful as the Premier League season approaches.
