Chelsea in Talks with Crystal Palace for Maxence Lacroix Transfer

Chelsea Football Club is currently engaged in discussions with Crystal Palace regarding the potential signing of French international defender Maxence Lacroix. According to reports from Sky Sports News, Crystal Palace is looking for a transfer fee greater than the £55 million that Tottenham Hotspur paid for Jan Paul van Hecke, who was signed from Brighton.

Lacroix, who joined Crystal Palace from Wolfsburg in 2024, has made 98 appearances for the Eagles and has established himself as a key player in the squad. Chelsea is in need of a centre-back and is particularly interested in players who possess physical presence and Premier League experience.

The relationship between Chelsea and Crystal Palace has been strong in recent years, with both clubs successfully completing player transfers, including deals for Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell. Chelsea has raised approximately £130 million from player sales this transfer window, which could facilitate their pursuit of Lacroix.

In addition to Lacroix, Chelsea is also exploring other defensive options, as several players, including Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Malo Gusto, and Axel Disasi, may be on the move. Meanwhile, Chelsea has made significant progress in their summer transfer activities, including the high-profile acquisition of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a British-record fee of £117 million.

As the transfer window progresses, Chelsea's strategy appears focused on strengthening their defense while also making impactful signings to enhance their squad depth.
