Thanh Hoa Football Club Faces Financial Challenges

The Eastern Asia Thanh Hoa Football Club has officially requested to return the team to the provincial government due to severe financial difficulties. This request comes at a time when the club is facing numerous challenges, particularly in terms of funding.

The Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has tasked the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism with leading the review of this proposal, coordinating with relevant departments to determine the best course of action. Vice Chairman of the provincial government, Dao Thanh Tung, emphasized the need for the department to compile a report on the situation and suggest solutions regarding the club's management.

This development follows a series of setbacks for the club, especially after the arrest of Cao Tien Doan, the club's president, in late August 2025. He was detained for investigation related to accounting violations and issues concerning asset auctions, which has severely hindered the club's operations. Despite the ongoing management by Eastern Asia Thanh Hoa Football Company, limited financial resources have significantly impacted the club's activities, leading to the departure of several key players ahead of the new season.

On July 9, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee met with the Vietnam Football Federation to discuss strategies for the sustainable and professional development of local football. Provincial leaders have committed to addressing the club's challenges, ensuring the rights of the coaching staff, players, and employees are protected, while actively seeking capable investors and sponsors to support the club in the long term.
