Argentina National Football Team Supports Flood Victims in China

The Argentina national football team has announced that they will donate a collection of items to help those affected by the recent floods in Guangxi, China. In a statement released on their official Weibo account on July 14, the team expressed their deep sorrow regarding the flooding situation and their desire to support their fans in China, especially those impacted by the disaster.

"We hope to contribute a batch of national team items, including water bottles, towels, clothing, and backpacks. We believe these items can aid in the recovery and rebuilding efforts following the natural disaster," the statement read.

The team is currently seeking partners to assist with the donation process and has called on organizations or individuals with suitable transportation channels to help deliver these items to the affected communities. "Throughout the World Cup, we felt tremendous support and encouragement from our fans in China. That has been an invaluable source of motivation for the Argentina national team. Now, we hope to give something back in return for this affection," the team shared.

This donation initiative comes as Guangxi is recovering from the devastating floods caused by Typhoon Maysak. Heavy rains led to a dam failure in Guangxi on July 9, resulting in 39 fatalities and 9 people missing. Rescue teams are actively searching for survivors, relocating affected residents, restoring public services, and clearing damaged infrastructure, while relief supplies and donations are continuously being sent from across China.

The announcement has received warm responses from the Chinese online community on Weibo, with many expressing their support and appreciation for the team's gesture. Some users recalled previous support from the Argentina national team during other disasters, sharing images of supplies donated after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Gansu Province in December 2023.

This commitment comes as Argentina prepares for their World Cup 2026 semifinal match against England on July 15, following a thrilling comeback victory of 3-2 against Egypt in the quarterfinals, as they continue their journey to defend their world champion title.
