Andre Onana Returns to Trabzonspor on Loan from Manchester United

Andre Onana, the Cameroonian goalkeeper, has officially rejoined Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United for the 2026/27 season. This move comes after Onana's impressive performance during his previous loan spell at the Turkish club, where he played a pivotal role in their success.

Last season, Onana made 29 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig, keeping six clean sheets and helping Trabzonspor secure the Turkish Cup title. His performances were instrumental in convincing the club to bring him back for another season. Manchester United announced his departure on their official website, stating that Onana is no longer in their plans for the upcoming season.

Onana joined Manchester United in 2023 for a fee of €50 million from Inter Milan. However, with the arrival of new goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, Onana's chances of playing at Old Trafford diminished significantly. Lammens had an outstanding debut season, earning the Premier League's Rookie of the Year award, which further limited Onana's opportunities.

As Onana returns to Trabzonspor, he will continue to gain valuable playing time in a familiar environment, while Manchester United looks to streamline their squad ahead of the new season under manager Michael Carrick. It remains uncertain whether Onana will have a long-term future at Manchester United, but for now, he is set to compete in the Turkish Super Lig once again.

This loan agreement signifies a new chapter for Onana as he aims to build on his previous successes with Trabzonspor while Manchester United prepares for the challenges of the upcoming season.
