Heavy rain forecast for Saturday night in Ho Chi Minh City

Rain is in the forecast for the southern Vietnamese region, including Ho Chi Minh City, on Saturday night, following the heavy rain on Friday midnight, according to the Southern Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The unseasonal downpour on Friday night took place in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces of Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, and Ben Tre.

Especially in Dong Thap and An Giang, the torrential rain lingered until early Saturday morning.

Rainfall measured in Thong Nhat District in Dong Nai Province reached 60.8mm, in Ho Chi Minh City’s Hoc Mon District at 165.6mm, Binh Chanh District at 138.6mm, and Cu Chi District at 84.2mm, in Duc Hoa District in Long An Province at 115mm, in Dong Thap at 95.4mm, and in Ben Tre at 90.8mm.

The rain has helped to cool the region down from the previously hot weather, adding water to rivers and canals that have been suffering from salinity, according to meteorology experts.

On Saturday night, existing turbulence of high winds will bring rains accompanied by thunderstorms to the region, with the concentration in the eastern and southwestern border provinces.

Some places will experience moderate rain, while heavy rain will occur locally in other parts.

Meanwhile, the sunshine will blanket during the daytime and afternoon on Saturday, with the temperature ranging between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius.

Some places will even be hotter than 36 degrees Celsius.
