Taste of Australia 2022 launched in HCMC

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first time Taste of Australia will be held here since 2019. Its objective is to promote premium Australian produce to Vietnamese industry and consumers through business, trade and public events and via social and traditional media activities.

Taste of Australia is a partnership between the Australian Government and producers, distributors, retailers, food service operators and organisations that showcase Australia in Vietnam. Starting out in 2016 with 60 partners and sponsors both locally and in Australia, Taste of Australia has grown tremendously. This year’s program is scheduled for April-June 2022. It will feature a range of official events that will be run by the Australian Embassy in Hanoi and the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to the official events, partner events include restaurant and retail promotions, special menus or dinner events, wine or cocktail specials and other activities will take place across Vietnam starting from April 21, 2022.

Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, said: “This year’s Taste of Australia program will again showcase the best of Australian food. It will build on Australia’s international reputation as a supplier of food and beverages that are high quality, safe and sustainable.”

Taste of Australia 2022 will spread the word about high-quality, sophisticated and versatile Australian produce and products available in Vietnam, starting with a video series collaborating with a Melbourne-based Australian-Vietnamese chef Frank Pham that will feature premium Australian produce including beef, lamb, abalone and rock lobster. This year’s program will also present a web series to highlight the sophisticated Australian wine varieties and the versatility of Australian wine for pairing with Vietnamese cuisine.

Alongside the online series, Taste of Australia 2022 will also partner with up to 40 of the best restaurants in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to highlight first-class quality of true Australian produce, fresh fruits and products in the local market.

Following the exciting entrance of Australian peaches and nectarines into the Vietnamese market, Taste of Australia will include an extensive nationwide promotional campaign to bolster the image of diverse, superior and accessible Australian products at major retail stores such as MegaMart, WinMart, BRG, Kingfood and Annam Gourmet Market.
