TAIPEI, Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As Taiwan registers its fastest economic growth in 39 years driven by exports in AI and semiconductors, its labor market is simultaneously facing an unprecedented crisis. The HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2026 Taiwan organised by Business Media International celebrates 97 resilient companies that have successfully navigated these turbulent waters, transforming their employer branding and business adaptability to secure top talent in a highly competitive landscape.

Taiwan has over 20% of its population aged 65 or older, employers are grappling with a severe talent drought. The National Development Council projects a staggering shortfall of 480,000 workers by 2030, and currently, 71% of Taiwanese employers report difficulty filling critical positions, especially at the mid-to-senior levels.
The skills mismatch and talent shortages are even more pronounced with the demand for highly skilled workers capable of adapting to rapid technological developments continuing to outpace the available domestic pipeline.
Despite these economic headwinds, the winners of the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2026 have demonstrated remarkable adaptability. These organizations have successfully pivoted their employer branding to attract and retain a multi-generational workforce. By actively listening to employee sentiments and deploying targeted retention strategies, they have bridged the gap between the expectations of incoming new generation talent and the institutional wisdom of seasoned professionals.
The HR Asia Total Engagement Assessment Model (TEAM) survey has been instrumental in this transformation. By measuring employee morale, needs, and engagement with 360-degree insight, the program provides actionable, data-driven solutions for its participants. In Taiwan, these insights have enabled 330 companies to tailor their corporate initiatives, championing inclusivity and fostering continuous dialogue to boost satisfaction across all age groups.
"With an ever-growing number of Zoomers entering the workforce, there comes a number of challenges for human resources," said Datuk William Ng, Chairman, HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia. "The life experiences and expectations of the younger generation are entirely different from the previous generations, potentially creating discord in the workplace. It is good to see that a larger number of organisations in Taiwan are actively mitigating potential issues and recording higher employee satisfaction by championing inclusivity along with actively listening to their needs."
The 2026 winners serve as a blueprint for business adaptability, proving that an organization's most valuable asset remains its people. By investing in tailored career development, flexible working arrangements, and diverse work environments, these companies not only secure the talent necessary to sustain Taiwan's economic momentum but also set the standard for corporate excellence across the region.
The award covers several markets across the region including mainland China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam, making this the largest recognition program and survey in the region for employee engagement.
