Southeast localities enhance linkages for sustainable tourism development
NDO - Provinces and cities in the Southeast should synchronously implement many measures, especially focusing on the enhancement of linkages to attract private investment and foreign direct investment (FDI) into the infrastructure for tourism development.
The statement was made by Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan at a conference on the development of tourism linkages in Vietnam’s Southeast region held in Tay Ninh Province on June 28.
The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.
The relevant agencies should carefully study and set specific plans on the training of human resources in the tourism sector for each locality to meet the requirements for tourism development as well as contribute to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, social security, improvement of people's intellectual standards, and preservation of the cultural beauties of ethnic minority groups, said Politburo member Nhan. adding that Ho Chi Minh City must play a key role in human resource training for the whole region and the country.
It is crucial to effectively exploit the diversity in the characteristics of the localities towards the building of key products and the common brand of the region, added the Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee leader.
He noted that the tourism development should be associated with the smart tourism trend and responsible tourism towards sustainable development.
The participants discussed measures to create a unified tourism space for mutual development and to increase competitiveness while paying much attention to protecting the ecological environment and preserving and promoting the local traditional values and customs.
The solutions aim to raise the number of tourists from Ho Chi Minh City to the southeast region and vice versa, contributing to the recovery of the tourism sector following the Covid-19 epidemic.
The southeast region consists of Ho Chi Minh City and five other provinces: Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Dong Nai.
